Recipes and Flavoring

The unflavored version of Naturize® is a genuinely natural protein powder that is free of flavoring, sweeteners, sugar and additives. This is great news for those who don’t like (or are sensitive to) sweeteners, coloring and artificial flavoring. It’s also great news that as it has no other ingredients than premium quality brown rice powder, you can’t have doubts about what you actually eat. Naturize® is completely safe and tested, it only contains what and how much is written on its cover, which, unfortunately, is not common in case of protein powders.

In contrast to many other vegetable proteins (like pea or hemp), it has a natural taste, it’s even less disturbing than a bowl of unflavored brown rice. You can drink it in cold water, but you can also flavor it very well and use it with sweet or salty recipes. If taste is important to you, you can choose from several options. Here come some of our favorites:

Natural ways of sweetening

If you want to drink Naturize® sweet, we advise you to use natural and healthy sweeteners only. The best way to use fruits or honey but if you care about sugar and calories, you can use erythritol or natural vanilla.

Of course, you can choose other sweeteners (e.g. xylitol or stevia) but xylitol often causes diarrhea while many people can’t really get used to the taste of stevia. Jerusalem artichoke is also good because it gives you the natural sweet taste your body needs.

Erythritol is better than xylitol because it has the same advantages without causing diarrhea. It’s more expensive and less trendy, probably that’s why it’s not so popular yet but at least you can buy it everywhere.

Jerusalem artichoke concentrate is a nutriment of medical importance. It’s antioxidant: it protects the heart and the veins (decreases LDL level and increases HDL level) and strengthens your immune system. It’s probiotic: it’s good for your digestion, it protects the liver and helps detoxication, it even helps you lose weight more easily (by giving you a feeling of fullness). It stabilizes the level of your blood sugar as well. It gives energy to kids and youngsters, it’s suitable for effective slimming diets and activates the endurance of sportspeople.

Some flavoring tips

Rice milk

One of the best and easiest way to flavor Naturize is to use rice milk (you can use coconut milk or almond milk too). It is natural, healthy and gives the amount of sweetness you need. You can also mix it with water (50-50%), if you want to consume less (rice) sugar.

Cinnamon, vanilla

The easiest way of flavoring is by cinnamon or bourbon vanilla powder – both give great taste to Naturize® without over-sweetening it. You can easily buy both although cinnamon is simpler and cheaper. They both give a nice taste to your shake even without sweeteners.

Cocoa, coffee

We have to talk about less healthy solutions, too. Although we don’t recommend the consumption of milk and sugar, you might not be able to give them up. In this case, by adding Naturize® you’ve at least made your drink healthier and taken in enough protein, too.

You can get a protein-rich cocoa-like drink if you mix a little cocoa powder with erythritol in a little hot water, then add more water and Naturize® brown rice powder.

Although we don’t advise you to drink milk at all, if you can’t give it up, add Naturize® to your white coffee. For example, if you add Naturize® to your latte machiato, you’ll not only get nice taste but also a valuable nutriment.

It might happen that you can’t give up whey completely. In this case, we advise you to mix it with Naturize® in 50-50% or 80-20% ratios (rice powder being 80%). This way you don’t have to give up on the familiar taste but you can decrease the ratio of unwanted ingredients. (Moreover, most whey products are over-sweetened and this way you can change that as well.) Consequently, you don’t have to throw away your expensive whey product even if you have decided to change to rice powder.

Recipes

Naturize® protein shake with rice drink and cinnamon

Ingredients:

  • 3 dl rice milk (hopefully organic but any will do)

  • 30g Naturize® (2 spoonfuls)

  • a half or a quarter teaspoonful of cinnamon (about 0.4g)

Mix all ingredients in a large glass or a shaker, serve cool. Ready in half a minute and wonderful! Cinnamon gives a nice taste even if you use water or mineral water instead of rice milk or you can water the latter up, too (2 dl rice drink, 1 dl water). Choose a quality rice milk if possible (at least 17% rice content) because lots of them contain too much fat or oil, which might make you feel too full. If you don’t drink all of your protein shake, shake it up again before drinking it later, because natural brown rice protein can sink to the bottom of your shake easily (that’s because it lacks stabilizers).

Naturize® berry fruit smoothie

This is a fantastic recipe and we advise you to drink it around the time of your training, mostly 1 or 2 hours before.

Ingredients:

  • a handful of berries (about 100g)

  • a half or a full banana (depending on how much you like it and how much you want to sweeten. You can even leave it.)

  • 30g Naturize® (about 2 spoonfuls)

  • little water

Wash the frozen berries, thus melting them a little (but no need to melt them). Put them into a blender or chopper, add the other ingredients and a little water (so that your can create its substance) and mix for 15-30 seconds. You’ll get a great, cool and natural fruit smoothie, full of valuable protein without any additives, flavoring or fake fruit jelly. All there’s in it is what you want. You can use rice drink instead of water and even add cinnamon if you want a stronger taste.

Naturize® basic green shake

Ingredients:

  • a banana

  • half a pear (or apple)

  • 1 or 2 handfuls of fresh spinach or sorrel

  • half an avocado

  • 30g Naturize® brown rice powder

  • 2 or 3dl mineral or clean water

Shake all ingredients (till you don’t see green leaves), you can add more or less water than 3 dl depending on the shakes substance. You’ll get a great breakfast but you can drink it 1 or 2 hours before training, too. Bon appetite!

The following are all different green shake recipes that you can mix with Naturize® brown rice powder. They are just as great and by adding protein, you’ll get a complete meal. You only have to focus on taking in enough fats, e.g. by using cod-liver oil capsules, linseed oil or different oilseed products.
